Dog dies on United flight after being put in overhead bin , airline confirms

A dog died on a United Airlines flight Monday after being placed in an overhead bin, the airline approved to ABC News.
In a facebook post, a fellow passenger told a mom & her 2 daughters were boarding the flight by their dog in tow the time a flight attendant “insisted” which the dog be placed in the overhead bin.

“This was a tragic accident which ought have never occurred, as pets ought never be placed in the overhead bin,” United told in a statement.
Upon hearing which there was a dog in the bag after the flight landed, “the flight attendant seemed frazzled & shocked,” the passenger said.

He told the airline refunded the tickets bought for the dog owner & her 2 children & the fee which they paid to bring a pet on board — typically $200.
