Saudi-led blockade against Qatar ‘separate families’

Along with the severing of diplomatic ties, the Saudi-led blockade against Qatar meant shutting the only land border that Qatar shares with Saudi Arabia.
A statement issued by the committee said Marri briefed al-Hussein during a telephone conversation on latest developments regarding the human rights situation.
Saudi, UAE and Bahraini citizens were also given the same timeframe to leave Qatar.
The NHRC said it was alarmed over the “violation of human rights”.
Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, the UN human rights chief, has told Qatari officials that there are vigorous attempts under way to address the humanitarian situation resulting from the blockade imposed on Qatar by several Gulf countries.

ADVERTISEMENTOn Friday, Tillerson said the blockade is “hindering” military operations in the region.
“While current operations from Al Udeid Air Base have not been interrupted or curtailed, the evolving situation is hindering our ability to plan for longer-term military operations,” Davis said.
Despite calling for an ease to the blockade, Tillerson said Qatar needs to do more to address terrorism financing.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called Friday for several countries to ease a blockade against Qatar.
“The blockade is hindering U.S. military actions in the region and the campaign against ISIS,” Tillerson said, referring to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
