So what makes Damani a stock market ace and an idol, even to fellow organised retail veterans?
He, however, used the insights gained from his 15 years in the stock market in his new venture.
“There are some 25 things that we possibly do differently and consistently,” Damani told The Economic Times newspaper.
In his mid-40s, when ace stock market investor Radhakishan Damani decided to start a chain of supermarkets, investors and traders watched his transition closely.
Retail game“I liked the consumer business and I invested in such stocks too,” Damani told The Economic Times newspaper in 2014.
After all, most investors — especially those piled into increasingly popular index funds — gain only when the stock market goes up.
Many stock market strategists, though, say it’s too soon to talk of a bubble because they see the economy underpinning much of the gains.
“Don’t think that investors don’t want a pullback,” said Quincy Krosby, market strategist at Prudential Financial.
Based on the stages he outlined, though, the market is most likely somewhere between “enthusiasm” and “delusion,” before the top.
Buyers taking advantage of the dip would be a sign that the pullback is not a longer-term decline, Krosby said.
