A White House press release sent out Monday appeared to contain a paragraph that was also used in an ExxonMobil press release posted earlier that same day, according to Mother Jones.
But, according to BuzzFeed News, and as noted in the press releases, the ExxonMobil expansion actually began back in 2013.
“Today’s news is further evidence of the country’s spirit of optimism, boosting job growth.”According to CNN, a White House official admitted to taking sentences from the Exxon release to incorporate into their own.
The similarities were noted by Washington Post writer Christopher Ingraham, who tweeted screen grabs of each release and highlighted the verbatim paragraphs.
